UPMIRES
The club depends on the volunteer contribution of its players to ensure it maintains its basic operations. Referees are no exception and we need players to umpire for local games. There is no need to be a professional umpire basic knowledge of the game will suffice. In return, players get a chance to brush-up their umpiring skills and their knowledge of the game. You will also be eligible for a free hot dog and drink.
In order to be fair to everyone, the club has produced a draft umpire roster. Please check it out and note when you are umpiring. You will need to find replacement if you cannot umpire your game. Replacement arrangements can be made with Jason Smith on 9421 2887 or 0432 547 222.

1st nine vs Diamond Creek - Lost 2-4
No match report submitted.
2nd nine vs Diamond Creek - WON 21-2
A great come back effort after a disappointing loss last week against Reservoir downing Diamond Creek 21-2. A great performance by all at the plate as we out hit the opposition 19-5. Sam’s bat came alive leading off followed by Alex and Aaron who also enjoyed a good day with the stick. Another flawless defensive day as our Rookie pitcher dubbed “Wookie” by his fellow team mates got his first start in the 2s who backed him up perfectly without making an error. Throwing the allowed 70 pitches Alex went 4 innings with 5 hits and 6 strike outs and only 2 walks on the day. Well done. Aaron had a solid day behind the plate keeping their offensive threat at bay with a good mix up of calls.
With a bye next week we now have a chance to take a breath before we head down the home stretch with Footscray and Bundoora away, and Waverly at home to finish out the season we need to stay focused to secure a spot in the finals.
Let’s all get to training this week indoors at the Melbourne Cricket Centre down by Monash Uni from 6-8pm Wednesday night.
Hits – Sam – 4, Alex, Chao & Aaron – 3, Victor – 2, Alex, Francisco, Hugh, Randall & Jack – 1 RBIs – Chao & Randall – 4, Alex & Aaron - 3, Jack – 2, Francisco & Hugh - 1.

3rd nine vs Knox - WON 9-4
Hits : 3 Paul Shipp 2 Joey Yu  1 Paul C  David Cranston and Peter Clapp RBI's : 1 Joey Yu Garry Shipp Paul C David Cranston Nick Dundon
Knox sitting second on the Ladder, we were 4th with 5th pushing for inclusion. This was a very pleasing win, always is beating Knox especially as we lost 16-4 last time.
Paul Shipp Started on the mound and did a fantastic job, 6 innings only 1 run and that was from an error in the field which may or may have not scored at a later time. Together with his hitting and Joey Yu batting 2, both are getting on base at the top of the innings to apply pressure to the opposition with their leg speed around the bases. There were 2 wild throws and 1 fielding error only 1 out field fly. There were a lot of regulation infield outs Nick and David at short and third did a very good job. Well done to all on the day.
Play of the day goes to Garry Shipp throwing the ball from centre field to 3rd base to get the runner out whilst trying to steal.
Damlow goes to Barry Cranston who was scoring at the time didn't see the entire out so asked me who the cut off had been. There is still something in that arm Garry.
4th nine vs Ringwood - Lost 19-5
No match report submitted.
5th nine vs Watsonia - Lost 34-2
We had 10 players this week and everyone is ready to play some baseball! Even though the score is ugly, but this just proves that we need more experience and training to improve our skills.
We started the game well and manage to get 2 points with a hit by Jason Povey and David Nodin sending Jason Smith and Michael Huang home, but that was it for our batting!
Matt Wong started on the mount but didn't manage to find the strike zone well enough and gave a few walks, David Nodin came in to help in the 2nd inning but as this is the first time David pitched on a mount, he was not able to find the strike zone either. Watsonia was aggressive at bat and they did quite well, our fielding was too nervous when the ball goes to them and lost many chance of finishing the inning earlier.
Under 15s vs Ringwood Angels - Lost 2-14
No match report submitted.
Under 13s - BYE
