1st Nine vs Waverley - Lost 9-3
A loss this week has made the run to the finals very interesting for the 1sts with a 6 run loss to 4th placed Waverley. All the damage came in one inning as error after error allowed Waverley to score 7. The game started well with Carlos on the mound pitching well enough to get the win, however he was not backed up in the field.
There were some good plays on the day, especially from Chao in left taking a home run away from Waverley with a leaping catch up at the fence. But when Waverley got on a roll, nothing it seemed was going to stop them.
In other results at the weekend, Latrobe Uni have broken through for their first win of the year over Diamond Creek to leave the race for the 4 all but done and dusted. Third place is up for grabs and it has to start this week.

2nd Nine vs Waverley - Lost 7-4
A tough fought game against the Waverly mob this week going down in the end 7-4. Some good defensive plays in the outfield this week kept us in the game especially early as they loaded the bases the first two innings. We tightened up the D and kept them scoreless turning a double play to end the second dig. We made a couple of errors later though that cost us a few runs, that coupled with one or two more hits in this game would have made the difference to see the game be completely opposite. We are now tied for 4th spot on the ladder with LaTrobe on points only percentage being the difference. We are not out of it yet but must win 2 of the last 3 to gain a berth in the finals.

3rd Nine vs Footscray - Lost 14-2
Playing against a team that was in B grade last year, the thirds held Footscray to 7 to 2 after 6 innings until they hit strongly in the last to score another 7 runs. With Paul required for the seconds and Jimmy apparently not available, the team was fortunate to welcome 14year old Tom Dundon for his first senior game and Michelle Cranston who was able to fill-in at late notice.
Tom took two excellent flies at rightfield and Michelle took two great flies at left, one being a forward dive and taking the catch just off the turf.Peter Clapp pitched another very good game until Footscray's hitters caught up with his tiring back in the last. Unfortunately the infield did not perform as well as the previous week, but the younger boys hit some very good drives into the infield with good pitch selection.
Hits to: Sam Chan 1(double), Barry Cranston, Peter Clapp, Jack Rintoul RBIs to Tony Clapp and Jack Rintoul

4th Nine vs Footscray - Lost 0-19
A pretty tough game all round against a pretty experienced team. It was fantastic to welcome two new players, Karen and Michelle. Welcome.
5th Nine vs Knox Falcons - Lost 4-16
"With some players unavailable and a re-shuffle in the in-field, the 5th had a tough day against the Knox Falcons. The resumption game from our previous meeting ended in a come from behind win for the Falcons, and in the second game some errors and lack of experience in the field saw us losing 4 - 16. Tristan had a strong outing on the pitching mound, but the batters could not provide the support to score enough runs for the win. Hope we have a much better performance in our next game!
Under 13s vs Forest Hill - lost 0-4
One of the boys best defensive efforts of the year holding a finals bound team to only 4 runs over 5 tight innings with excellent pitching from Seb & Niall. Offensively, Jerome, Declan, Tom G, Zac, Anthony & Tommy all managed to get on base against some the best pitching we faced but all were left stranded to finish up with a 4-0 loss.
The final game of the season will be this week again Heathmont at Knox. This year has been a massive improvement over last year and there is still a very long way to go.
Training - Wed 4:45pm to 5:45pm at our home ground.
JUNIOR MOVIE NIGHT - 9th August - Hot Dogs, Popcorn,- All family invited. $5 each, includes a can of soft drink.
