1st Nine vs Diamond Creek - Drew 2-2
All in all a good game of baseball on the weekend with hardly any errors from either team. The game started well for North Balwyn with a hit from the first at bat of the game. After a steal, a job done by Billy and a clutch hit from Tim saw the first run scored. For the rest of the game North Balwyn only managed sporadic hits unable to capatilise on scoring opportunities. Diamond Creek fielded well making some tough plays of their own. The ladder shows North Balwyn a game clear of Bundoora which they take on this week and a game from top spot.

2nd Nine vs Diamond Creek - WON 17-5
Solid win defeating Diamond Creek this week 17-5. An outstanding defensive performance by the whole team with Victor Ting taking a couple of good catches in centre field, Francisco Gonzalez some great plays at shortstop while making them look routine. Dave Cranston shone at third, following up with a 3 for 3 at bat. Jerry Lin also went 3 for 4 and had a good day at first base.  Everyone got at least one hit on offence for the day, Aaron Hoskin, Seven Yao, Nick Chao and Randall Vavra getting two hits each. Anthony Hsu came in relief and did a good job on the mound with Aaron Hoskin closing out the last inning throwing only strikes.

North Balwyn ready in the field.
3rd Nine vs Doncaster - Lost 12-2
No match report submitted.
4th Nine vs Doncaster- Lost 8-2
Saturday’s loss of 8-2 was, from a fielding standpoint, much better. Still a few fumbles and wild throws, but a far better effort. What let us down was the batting. Only 3-4 hits for the day. Also thanks to Peter Canney for umpiring the game when Ripken had to pull out. In Taiwan... what sort of excuse is that!!!
5th Nine vs Knox - Game still undecided.
A game which has caused a bit of controversy and the outcome of which will be determined by the pennant committee. The 5ths started well taking a large lead into the bottom of third where Knox were able to manufacture 10 runs. By this stage there had to have been at least 5 minutes left because in the top of the 4th, North Balwyn scored 4 runs to take the lead. After the 2nd out, the umpire from Knox called time and game. Surely the umpire (and opposition scorer) knew of the 5-minute rule which requires innings starting with more than 5 minutes prior to the 2-hour time game time elapsing to be completed. Anyway, we will let you know what happens.

Under 13s vs Ringwood - Lost 7-8
After a streak of 8 scoreless innings the boys bats finally broke out with 6 runs in the top of the 2nd. Doubles from Ben EBBAGE & Jerome COLES started the run-fest followed by disciplined batting to draw RBI walks from Tom GRAY and Tommy DEL with an RBI Ground-out from Declan FIETZ to make it a half-dozen.
Despite a great defensive fielding effort the boys were pipped by a run in a close game. A fantastic game which was by far the boy's best of the season. Shout out to Liam's Dad Michael who came and scored the game despite his son not even playing. He was on camp. Thanks heaps.
